The contest started in January 2024 and finished in June 2024, with six artists participating. The concept was simple: a SynQuaNon Eurorack Demo System was shipped to each contestant and they had 30 days to develop the tracks with sounds for their song without using any effects external to the Demo System. In other words, DAW plugins and drum machines were off limits - this was done to create a level playing field.
After 30 days the Demo Systems were sent on to the next contestant; once the tracks were recorded each artist had another 30 days to mix their song.
Judging was performed by the artists themselves ranking others' entries. After tabulating the results Micki Kaufman was the first place winner! Here are the details and the song entries:
